2017 SAFETY HOUSE WA INC ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Everyone is welcome to attend the Annual General Meeting of the Association but only accredited delegates of financial members of the Association may participate in speaking to motions or voting at the AGM.  The Annual General Meeting is held in Term 1 each year and is the forum for the membership to elect Office Bearers and Members of the Management Committee of the Association.  This meeting is an opportunity to meet the elected volunteer members the Safety House WA Association Management Committee, to participate in Association business and an opportunity to put forward ideas and ask any questions.

It is intended that the 2017 Annual General Meeting will be asked to review and consider a motion to introduce a revised Constitution for the Association to bring it in line with the new governance requirements of the Associations Incorporation Act 2015 that came into effect in July 2016.

SAFETY HOUSE MONTH – SEPTEMBER 2017

Every year, Safety House groups all around Western Australia are encouraged to celebrate their participation in the Safety House program with their local school community.  This celebration is usually held sometime during Safety House Month in September or at any other time in the year that fits in with the local school and community.

This celebration could be a YELLOW DAY in the school where all aspects of child safety care and education are promoted.  This could involve a yellow dress-up day, yellow balloons tied to safety House letter boxes, yummy yellow food at recess, a yellow themed school assembly, songs and music with a Safety House and child safety theme, drama and poetry based on Safety House and child safety topics, an exhibition of artwork entries in the Safety House annual Art Competition, yellow themed competitions, sports and games, a yellow Walking School Bus activity spotting Safety House letter boxes and balloons in the area, a school visit by IMA the Safety House mascot, a performance of the Safety House Show and any other brilliant ideas to celebrate the Yellow Day.

Start planning your school’s Safety House Month YELLOW DAY activities now for anytime in September 2017.  This will give your Principal and school teachers enough time to timetable the activities you want to celebrate as part of your school’s Yellow Day.

If there is no suitable time for a Yellow Day in Safety House Month, September 2017, your school can celebrate the program at another time that works better for the school.
